Strategy and Business Development Group (SBD)
SBD is an internal consulting function, which reports directly up to the CEO. We focus on strategy development, mergers and acquisitions, new business development, and other highly visible corporate priorities. Our diverse team consists of graduates from the world’s leading business schools and universities with prior experience at well-respected companies.
Senior Manager Role
An individual in the Senior Manager role will be a core member of SBD. In this capacity, they will play a major role working with and supporting senior Ameriprise business leaders to develop and execute strategies that drive growth for our financial services franchise and help strengthen our company’s competitive advantages.
Responsibilities of this role will include:
* Independently managing central portions of projects, identifying key issues and selecting appropriate analysis to solve defined problems.
* Communicating hypotheses, proposed analysis and findings to project team.
* Working closely with client team members in problem solving effort, actively managing client team members to develop actionable solutions.
* Building rationale for recommendations and readily contributing to communication of recommendations to client team.
* Supporting senior Ameriprise business leaders in executing recommended strategies.
* Assisting in reviewing strategies across all business lines to ensure alignment with the overall Ameriprise strategies.
* Identifying and providing analytical support for potential acquisitions, joint ventures, and divestiture opportunities.
Required Qualifications
We are seeking individuals with the following qualifications, experiences, and characteristics:
* MBA from a top-tier institution.
* 3-5 years of work experience.
* Experience in consulting, investment banking, private equity, corporate finance, or marketing strategy at a leading firm, especially within a financial services. context (experience working within a broker dealer, asset manager, or insurance and annuities firm is preferred).
* Demonstrated problem solving, analytical and thought leadership skills.
* Well-rounded skill set and long-term interest in both general management and financial services.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to effectively interact with senior executives.
* High degree of analytical capability, excellent academic performance.
* Ability to work independently and as part of team.
